McVitie and Price’s Jaffa Cakes will turn 100 in 2027! That is a century of being a staple sweet of the UK, but popular around the world. Today, many countries are producing the cake according to McVitie and Price’s license.
The famous 54mm (2 1/8 inches) circular cake has sweetened nearly every set of teeth on the globe by now. The Genoise sponge base holds an orange jam layer in the middle and is coated with chocolate, to make the perfect 46-calorie cake.
Jaffa Cakes Doughnut
Now, McVitie is joining forces with Krispy Kreme, the famous doughnut manufacturer, to make every attempt at fitness even harder. They are replacing the beloved sponge base with the Krispy Kreme doughnut dough but keeping the orange-flavored filling and the magnificent chocolate cover.
It looks like this:
Is it good you ask?
They have teased the launch several times, so this is not a surprise. However, once it launched on September 5th, people went nuts on social media. Our team also tried it and it is tastetastic! We will never forget the sponge base and this is not a permanent switch for us, but the doughnut fits here just as well.
Jaffa Cakes Doughnut is a limited edition!
The only bad news is that this is a limited edition delight. Nobody knows for how long, but our happiness has an expiration date. The price for 1 Jaffa Cakes Doughnut is around $2.5 or maybe a bit more depending on the country.
McVitie and Price
McVitie and Price was founded in 1927, in the United Kingdom. The name comes from Jaffa oranges. However, the name “Jaffa Cakes” is not trademark registered, so today we can find countless other products by that name, imitating the original McVitie recipe.
Despite the overflow of copies and imitations, McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes is the best-selling product of its kind in the world since its inception. In 2019, it was also the best-selling biscuit or cake in the entire UK. Also, despite worldwide fame, all McVitie products are made in the UK, in Stockport.
