The special thing about being human is that everyone is curious; curious to learn more and curious to explore more. While random facts are considered to be useless in terms of everyday use, generally speaking, they can be a fun way to learn. Sometimes, they can also help you give off a lasting impression that you are smart and after all, isn’t it cool to know stuff the average person doesn’t?
So, with that being said, here are some intriguing, yet informative fun facts.
1. The Candy Desk
In 1968, Senator George Murphy developed a habit of sharing sweets by offering candy to the other senators when they passed by his desk. This resulted in Senator Murphy’s desk being named the ‘Candy Desk’ and it had many other senators tasked with maintaining and keeping up with the candy supply of the desk. Soon, the word got around town and Hershey stepped up to supply over 100 pounds of their candy every year to keep the desk stocked.
2. A Lined Cheetah
Nature has always been creative when it comes to styling. Similarly, cheetahs usually come with spots but sometimes they are born with stripes as well. The first cheetah that was recorded to have spots and stripes was documented in 1926 by Major A. Cooper who hunted this particular cheetah down. This change in the natural pattern comes when a mutation occurs. Now, you can find these ‘king’ cheetahs in the wild in the region of Zimbabwe.
3. You Have to be Smart to Claim A Prize
In Canada, there is a Canadian Competition Act that implies that nationals who win contests that are not a provincial lottery, a government-sanctioned casino, or a contest from a charitable institution, have to answer a series of trivia questions. This happens so that the winning could be justified as a game of skill and not just a game of chance. This is exactly why the game of pinball was once banned in the U.S. as many believed that it was a game of pure chance.
Let’s be honest, you wouldn’t believe these facts if someone told you, right?
